Daniel is an International Yoga Teacher and Therapist, and is certified in Reiki, Ayurvedic massage, Chakra balancing as well as being a Craniosacral and Sound healing therapist. He has a Psychology degree from the University of Alberta in Canada and is completing his Doctorate of Manual Osteopathy from the National University of Medical Sciences in Madrid.
Venturing from his home in Canada, he first learned yoga in 1988 from a jolly yogi in Venares, India and he lived in Nepal working as a mountain guide very connected to the 5 Elements that form the conceptual foundation for his work. Since then he has continued on a lifestyle journey of travel; working, living, learning in Asia, the Middle East, South America and North Africa and on the way deepening his connection to the elements through yoga practice, qi gong, meditation, shamanic ceremony, plant medicine journeying and learning from many different teachers.
Daniel spent 17 of those years as an aid worker, intermittently working on humanitarian emergencies for the UN and Non-government organizations (while also bringing up a family) recognizing the challenges and often dysfunction of various organizations and environments and noting the negative effect on people and their well-being, and eventually their health. He is specialized in helping those in need to unpackage their issues, find balance, heal traumas (using Trauma Movement Therapy). He comes from a place of first hand experience having himself worked in insecure environments and surviving trauma. He also offers Wellness sessions to support the staff of organizations working in emergencies.
Healing practices and health counseling come naturally to Daniel; he has studied the capacity of the body to heal itself through energy work using Qi Gong, Reiki and essential relaxation through Craniosacral therapy and this very much complements his previous experience in Acupressure massage, Chakra balancing and Elemental Yoga teaching and therapy. His approach is to shine a light on your wellness journey as you endeavour to heal yourself. Currently Daniel is in his last year of a PhD programme in Manual Osteopathy.
Daniel moved to Ecuador from Yangon in 2020 and is a father first, therapist and yoga teacher, learning from his teenage boys and his students the many qualities required to become a patient teacher, a good listener and enabler for wellness. Living in the 'the global south' for the first time in over 10 years will find new challenges for this 'man from Asia!
He is the founder of @Elementalwellnesstherapies, the @YangonWellnessECentre and the @YangonWellness Group on FB. He is progenitor of @CleanAirStoreNepal in Kathmandu selling products to help people breathe in Kathmandu's polluted air and has a work in progress to build at the Mandango Pyramid Retreat Centre in southern Ecuador in the pretty little town of Vilcabamba.
